Accessible Data Visualization with Web Standards
I’m bookmarking this article from A List Apart for later reference. CSS bar charts might be a nice way to clean up my notebook page, which, as it stands right now, is a complete mess.
Rails Plugin: dynamically_tags
A really cool new plugin that allows you to dynamically link objects based on keywords in your text. For instance, if someone left a comment saying “I live in Chicago,” it can automatically parse the text and link “Chicago” to the model for that city. Great stuff!
Great Olympic Moments on YouTube
An excellent selection of Olympic moments on YouTube compiled by Jason Kottke. My favorite is Olga Korbut’s 1972 uneven bar routine.
2 Minutes From New Media Expo
While at New Media Expo, Colin, Brandice, and I put together a podcast in one day to cover New Media Expo. We asked almost 30 people the same 3 questions, and their 2 minute answers provide a great way to catch up on the Expo. New episodes are being posted periodically, so be sure to keep checking back.
New Media Expo Videos
Colin and Andrew, Technology Evangelist and Lead Designer, respectively, for Viddler have created a really great video site for the upcoming New Media Expo (which I’ll be going to). There’s sure to be all sorts of great content being posted over the next couple days, so definitely check it out.
Top Ten Typography Sins
Good stuff from Smashing Magazine. Typography definitely isn’t one of my strong suits, and it’s something I’m really trying to learn or thing or two about.
Brightkite API Documentation Released
Brightkite released their API documentation today, which hopefully will lead to some really cool uses of the location data. I’ve already got a few ideas for widget type things that integrate Brightkite, so I hope to have some free time soon to start working on those.
My Photos from Niagara Falls
I went to Niagara Falls this week, and took a fair amount of photos. Check out my niagarafalls tag on flickr to see them.
